The Different Types Of Herpes SymptomsHerpes is a contagious disease characterized by fluid-filled blisters and searing pain. Unfortunately, herpes is not totally curable and subsequent outbreaks are known to occur even after you are 'healed' of the primary infection. There is, however, a way to curb the full effect of the infection and to prevent complications. This is through the early detection of herpes symptoms which would allow you and your physician to treat the infection when it is just starting to do damage. In order to detect herpes symptoms early on, you must be first able to identify these and distinguish them from symptoms of similar diseases. |
One type of herpes, known as zoster, is caused by the same virus as chickenpox. This virus can linger in your nerve cells long after the chickenpox have been eradicated and usually re-activates when triggered. Since it shares the viral cause of chickenpox, it also shares some of the disease's symptoms and appearance. At first, your are likely to experience a burning sensation concentrated on one area of the body. This would be followed by the appearance of a rash, which later develops into blisters arranged in a stripe formation. Headaches and fever typically accompany the formation of the blisters, which at first have a clear appear an but latter turn to yellow and finally to a bloody color. |
A second type of herpes, known as fever blisters or cold sores, is caused by the herpes simplex type 1 virus and it usually affects the face and other parts of the body found above the waist. Fever blisters herpes symptoms are very similar to the symptoms of herpes zoster. However, the blisters are usually smaller and they dry out over a shorter period of time. As the blisters dry out, they leave a dry, crusty, and itchy scab that takes around a few weeks to disappear. This is especially true with the primary infection, which is the first time that the said signs appear. |
This type of herpes is possibly the most popular one, not to mention the type that brings the most stigma. It is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the herpes simplex type 2 virus. As a recognized STD, it usually affects the genital area and the symptoms are often to be observed there. Genital herpes symptoms include the following:
- tingles or itchiness near and around the genital area, including the anal region and the buttocks
- pains and muscle aches in the area
- blisters, cuts, sores, or rashes
- vaginal and penile discharge
- pain or burning sensation when urinating
- Flu-like symptoms (headache, swollen joints, etc.)
|
The above-mentioned herpes symptoms are often mistaken for other less problematic diseases such as a simple skin rash. However, herpes is not a condition to take chances with. If you observe any of the symptoms enumerated above, it would be wise to consult a doctor or dermatologist to ascertain if your condition is herpes or not. |
Are you too shy to go to your doctor about your herpes? Then you may try herpes antiviral medications that are organic or herbal, and pose no dangerous side effects. |
